Chopin: Piano Sonatas No. 2&3

Alex Szilasi’s complete Chopin edition now grows to include a long-awaited recording: the two mature sonatas. But it would be no exaggeration to say that the true protagonist of this recording, the first among equals, is the marvellous instrument on which the pieces are played: a Pleyel Concert Grand, Chopin’s favourite make of piano. ‘When I’m in a good mood, I’m sure to choose a Pleyel,’ the pianist-composer often said.
