Ignace Joseph Pleyel: Flute Quartets
by Pál Németh (flute); Piroska Vitárius (violin); Gergely Balázs (viola); Dénes Karasszon (cello)
Ignace Joseph Pleyel who was Mozart‘s junior by less than a year, had a modern, 19th-century musician’s carreer. As a composer, music publisher, piano manufacturer etc. attained succes among members of the social elite and of artistic circles in Paris. His six quartets with flute are exquisite examples of the serenade-like chamber music of the time.
