Johann Sebastian Bach: Violin Concertos

by Zsolt Kalló (violin); Capella Savaria (on period instruments)

Bach’s concertos have become regular items on concert repertoires. The concertos composed for orchestra, nevertheless, constitute only a fraction of Bach’s works; furthermore, there are overlaps between his concertos written for different instruments – for some concertos only the harpsichord arrangement has survived and the original part for string was lost long ago. On this recording, Capella Savaria featuring soloist Zsolt Kalló, performs the reconstructed versions of two of these lost violin concertos supplemented by two other surviving violin concertos.
