Rachmaninov: The Isle of the Dead & Symphonic Dances

by Miskolc Symphony Orchestra, László Kovács (conductor)

Rachmaninov’s two early and a late work are performed by the Miskolc Symphony Orchestra conducted by László Kovács. The Isle of the Dead written in 1909 is followed by Symphonic Dances composed some years before his death. The closing item of the album is Vocalise, his perhaps best-known work, which had originally formed part of a song cycle. Its version for full orchestra was arranged by Rachmaninov himself.
